Altrusa International at Orlando / Winter Park, Florida

Altrusa is an international non-profit organization making our local communities better through leadership, partnership, and service.

Our club offers an opportunity to make a real difference in Central Florida. We undertake a variety of service, literacy, fundraising and international projects each year.

We are seeking new volunteers to join our organization and make a difference. Our members are from varying occupations and lifestyles, all sharing an interest in community service and enjoying the friendship, fun and satisfaction that comes from working together for the benefit of others.

Our Projects

Hands-on Service

Make A Difference Day! The Orlando-Winter Park Club decided to conduct another school drive aimed at donating school supplies and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the schools. Supplies and cash were divided between Tools 4 Seminole Schools and A Gift for Teaching that operate free stores for teachers in Seminole and Orange Counties respectively. Also, the Club assisted the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County (ELCOC) to assemble literacy materials for two of their literacy programs. #community

Literacy

One of the core foundations of Altrusa. The Orlando-Winter Park Club is actively involved in several projects supporting literacy. For Operation Home Front's Back-To-School Brigade coordinated by Operation Homefront, the Club provide children's activity and workbooks. Also, the Club supports a "Little Lending Library" by providing books to the children and readers in the surrounding community at Langford Park in Orlando, #literacy

Donations

We are a volunteer organization and 100% of funds raised help us to support projects that impact our local community. We support numerous charities within the Greater Orlando Area, such as A Gift for Teaching, Adult Literacy League, Center for Independent Living, Children's Advocacy Center, Harbor House, UCP of Central Florida, and Winter Park Library. Also, we have two (2) International Projects: Days for Girls and Support Our Soldiers with a focus on Homeless Veterans, which the Club supports as well. #kindness

International

In September 2019, the Club purchased over 90 Luci Lights (solar lights) which were used to support the set-up of a Tent City in Marsh Harbor. Marsh Harbor was one of the hardest-hit areas within the Bahamas. The Marsh Harbor Tent City provided people with a tent, a bed, a shower, a sleeping blanket, and Luci Light.
