Altrusa International of Gainesville, FL, Inc.

Altrusa is an international non-profit organization making our local communities better through leadership, partnership, and service.

Our club offers an opportunity to make a real difference in the greater Gainesville, Florida area. We undertake a variety of service, literacy, fundraising and international projects each year.

We are seeking new volunteers to join our organization and make a difference. Our members are from varying occupations and lifestyles, all sharing an interest in community service and enjoying the friendship, fun and satisfaction that comes from working together for the benefit of others.

Our Projects


Festival of the Trees

Altrusa of Gainesville and the Gainesville Woman's Club will be hosting Festival of the Trees on Thursday November 20. Ticket information will be available later in the year.

Altrusa House

Altrusa House of Gainesville, is our club signature project. In 2023, we celebrated 25 years of service to our community. 35 years ago there was a vision to build a place where adults with mental or physical disabilities could stay during the day. Altrusa House of Gainesville, partnered with Easter Seals Florida, is a place where people with health problems can come to make new friends and remain active. Families who are committed to keeping their loved ones at home can look to Altrusa House as an alternative to nursing home care. Altrusa House of Gainesville offers a place where family member’s health conditions can be monitored and cared for during the workday. Altrusa House promotes an active lifestyle for those with limitations and is a support system for anyone in need of care.

Committee News

The Vocational Committee continues to support the Displaced homemaker program at Santa Fe with an annual donation to assist students with supplies. In addition, they collect non-perishable food for the Santa Fe food bank. The Literacy Committee hosted a virtual 'Party for a Cause" Donations will be used to support Williams Elementary Reading and Attendance Incentive Programs. The International Committee will host an international themed dinner. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit Ukraine relief.
