Dicy McCullough is a retired music teacher who has found life after teaching through writing children’s books. She has been one of the featured authors at the Salisbury, NC Altrusa club’s annual Reading Festival for several years.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Gardner-Webb University, Boiling Springs, NC, and a Master of Education Degree from University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Charlotte, NC. In 2011 she was inducted into the Gallery of Distinguished Alumni at Gardner-Webb University.
Besides her book writing, Dicy has many other talents. She taught private piano lessons for thirty years, taught kindergarten for eleven years and music for nineteen years. She plays organ and piano at various churches in her community. She wrote a human interest column for the Salisbury Post for four years and occasionally writes articles for the newly published Salisbury Magazine. She is currently working on a middle-grade novel about two girls growing up in the sixties.
Between her writing time Dicy loves spending time with her four grandchildren, ages 1, 3, 4, & 6 and manages to stay grounded in taking care of her 96-year-old mother. She also loves taking time to share her books with children in preschools, schools, churches and organizations.
